Showing Art

On Friday I dropped off “Another World” at the Prince Street Gallery for their Fifth Annual National Juried Exhibition. I made this piece last year.

I would like to show my work more often–something that I have not tried to do in a long time.  As  I say in my bio, “ but have always quietly and energetically continued to make my art” and now I am slowly (or rather quickly) coming out of my cave and enjoying other people seeing and being moved by my work.  I left my full-time career in publishing in September with plans of entering the freelance publishing business and more importantly having the time and wherewithal to spend more time making art.  I am doing what I set out to do. I am doing what I probably was always meant to do after art school.  Things seem to have come full-circle.  I am older.  I am happier. Wiser?

Another World
Another World, Oil Paint Pen on Clayboard, 10″H x 8″W

For years I have been working on panels made by a company called Ampersand.  First I exclusively worked on their Scratchbords™.  Scratching/drawing on the black panels were perfect for my very fine markings and the surface was also ideal for gold leaf, which I later introduced into my scratchboard drawings. In 2011 I started painting and working with ink on their white Claybord™ panels. Last week I found out that Ampersand had selected one of my ink drawings  for their online gallery on the company website. You can see it now at http://ampersandart.com/gallery.html and also on http://ampersandartsupply.blogspot.com/

  2. When is the exhibit? In answer to your blog, yes, I do think you are wiser and should spend as much time on your art as possible!
