The Story
This is the first bird I have ever drawn so I am sure there is much room for improvement. I named this drawing Candy Marie.
Candy Marie was my first pet, a parakeet. Sounds like a prostitute’s name. My mother accidentally killed Candy Marie (the bird, not the prostitute) by emptying my piggy bank next to the cage to pay the newsboy. The bird keeled over from a heart attack at the noise of the coins. My mother tried so hard to save her. She fed Candy Marie whiskey with an eyedropper after calling the vet. My mother was devastated and so worried about telling me the very sad news. But I was calm. That is my nature. I wanted to touch Candy Marie and my mother let me. All is forgiven.
Whiskey!!! Are you sure it wasn’t the whiskey that killed her? 😉

I am sure you are right! (But her intention was to alleviate any pain and suffering.) I visited your blog and really like your work—especially your pen and ink drawings. They are beautiful.

Thank you Nancy. I’m enjoying yours. I’ve never tried scratch board. It gives your art a really nice look.

Thank you, Anna. My mother made me laugh by reminding me of this story when I told her the name of my drawing.
