This is a scratchboard portrait of Jeanne that I finished last night. Usually when I work on my art I find myself in a kind of meditative state and that was not the case with this piece. Because it was Jeanne that I was trying to portray I kind of had a running conversation with her while I worked. And she kept me very alert. I missed her during the process and thought of what I wanted to tell her. I didn’t cry. I just kept scratching. This probably isn’t my best piece but it was very important for me to do and the timing was right.
