So there you have it. This is my first bird/neuron combo piece.
I worked in publishing for many years, including managing the medical production group at an academic press. We published the first English language translation of the complete works of the great Spanish neurohistologist and Nobel laureate, Santiago Ramon y Cajal—Cajal on the Cerebral Cortex. The book included hundreds of magnificent images. The beauty of those illustrations and the thousands of drawings and photographs in contemporary medical texts that passed through my department over the years made a lasting and deep visual impression on me.
I am now working on a series of drawings/paintings based on neurons.
The bird looks very at home amongst the forest of neurons! I love medical illustrations too, such fascinating shapes and forms.
